Combined Effort: Background Check Guidance Jointly Issued by the EEOC and FTC

Do you use a consumer reporting agency (background check company) to conduct background checks on applicants and employees?
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) intersect on employment background check laws, and recently co-published two guidance documents, one for employers and one for employees, reiterating how the agencies’ respective laws apply to background checks performed for employment purposes. Although these documents don’t provide any new information, best practice guidelines are provided.
